Nocturne, `Sheoak Vineyard` Yallingup Cabernet Sauvignon
A small-production Margaret River Cabernet from Julian Langworthy, one of the region's most decorated winemakers, made under his solo Nocturne label. The Sheoak Vineyard is his four-hectare home site in Yallingup, the warmest of Margaret River's sub-regions, where deep gravel soils and Indian Ocean breezes give Cabernet of real complexity. Made with minimal intervention: destemmed, wild-yeast fermented, fourteen days on skins, then sixteen months in French oak. Small production, and it sells out every year.
Complex and perfumed, showing cassis, dark fruit and warm spice over crunchy cranberry, bay leaf and cedar, with a long, silky finish.
A natural partner for roast lamb, grilled beef or hard cheeses.
