A zesty Rueda white from Bodegas Naia in La Seca, on the left bank of the Duero. Naia is a Verdejo specialist whose first vintage was 2004.
Verdejo makes up 85% of the blend, with 15% Sauvignon Blanc, from vineyards at 750 to 800 metres on calcareous clay and pebbles. Winemaker Laura Sanz comes from a La Seca grape-growing family. She presses gently, ferments cool in stainless steel and leaves the wine three months on fine lees.
Grapefruit, passion fruit and mandarin with light herbs, then a mineral palate, lime-zest acidity and a touch of stone fruit. Good with grilled or oily fish, seafood, rice dishes or light tapas.
