Henners Native Grace Barrel Chardonnay
A barrel-fermented English Chardonnay from Henners, founded at Herstmonceux in East Sussex in 2007 by former Formula One engineer Larry Warr, a few miles from the sea.
For 2025 the fruit comes from partner growers at Old Mill Hill and Thorrington Mill in Essex and Brecks Vineyard in Norfolk. It is hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed and fermented entirely in 300-litre French oak, mostly older barrels with 10% new. It goes through full malolactic in barrel and rests six months on its lees, stirred twice a week.
Citrus and orchard fruit with white flowers and a touch of vanilla, a creamy texture from the oak and a bright, mineral finish. Lovely with roast chicken, a cheese soufflé or grilled fish.
