El Coto Rioja Blanco 2025

A fresh, citrusy white Rioja from El Coto, founded in Rioja Alavesa in 1970 and now the largest vineyard owner in the region.

Viura leads the blend, mostly from limestone and clay sites in Rioja Alta, with Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc from the estate's Finca Carbonera vineyard, which sits over 840 metres up and is the highest in Rioja. The grapes are chilled on arrival, gently pressed and fermented cool in stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation or oak, to keep the fruit bright.

Pale lemon, with peach, apple, citrus and tropical fruit on the nose, then lively acidity and a dry, crisp finish.

Best well chilled, at 7 to 8°C, alongside grilled or baked fish and seafood.
