Domaine Boutinot Les Coteaux Schisteux, Seguret AOP Cotes du Rhone Villages 2021

This is an impressive Côtes du Rhône Villages from the village of Séguret – and is about as good as CDR Villages gets! Silky smooth with great depth, texture and length. A big, satisfying blend of 75% Grenache Noir and 25% Syrah, this wine absolutely typifies Côtes du Rhône wines.

The vineyards are located above the famous ‘slopes of schist’. With vines planted well over fifty years ago, Grenache Noir is intermingled with Syrah, which can only be harvested by hand in this unforgiving, mountainous landscape.

The grapes are fermented using only naturally occurring wild yeasts. Once fermentation is finished, the wine is aged for up 22 months in French oak.

Taste guide: an explosion of cigar box, vanilla and sweet spice on the nose leads to lashings of berry & cherry fruit, cedar, black pepper, cinnamon and leather, for a long finish.
