Daschbosch Mossiesdrift Steen, WO Breedekloof
An old-vine Chenin Blanc from the Daschbosch Heritage Range. It is made in small quantities from bush vines planted in 1962 on the Mossiesdrift farm in the Breedekloof.
Now over 60 years old and registered with South Africa's Old Vine Project, the vines grow on Glenrosa soils and naturally give low yields. The grapes are hand-picked in March, cold-soaked and fermented slowly with wild and selected yeasts, partly in older barrels. The wine then spends six months on thick lees and eight months in barrel.
Mango, citrus, butterscotch and spice on the nose, then a creamy, textured palate where taut acidity balances ripe peach and dried apricot. Try it with creamy chicken or seafood dishes.
