Avallen Calvados
Avallen Calvados was launched in 2019 by experienced spirits marketers Stephanie Jordan and Timothy Etherington-Judge and is made using a variety of 40 different apples, with 2% of these apples grown near the distillery and the rest sourced from farms within 20km of the distillery in Normandy's La Manche region.
Avallen's production process only includes wild yeast, and the final product is 100% natural with no added sugar, caramel, or boisé.
In 2022, Avallen partnered with FrugalPac to launch a paper bottle, showcasing their commitment to becoming the most environmentally-friendly spirits brand. The bottle is made from 94% recycled paperboard and has significantly reduced CO2 emissions compared to traditional glass bottles at only 85g in weight. This translates to a carbon footprint of -3.16kg/CO2e per bottle, less than the lightweight glass bottle's -2.73kg/CO2e.
As a Certified B Corp and member of '1% For the Planet', Avallen supports organisations dedicated to protecting wild bee populations.
A must try cocktail with Avallen is the Calvados Appletini.
