A.A. Badenhorst `Secateurs` Red Blend 2025

A Swartland red from A.A. Badenhorst, founded on the Paardeberg mountain in 2008 by cousins Adi and Hein Badenhorst, and one of the Secateurs wines that act as the family's calling card.

Mostly Syrah, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cinsault, from dry-farmed bush vines on granite and iron-rich 'koffieklip' soils across the Kalmoesfontein and Jakkalsfontein farms. The grapes are hand-picked, fermented with native yeasts in open concrete tanks and foot-stomped twice a day, then aged for seven months in a mix of foudres, French oak barriques, concrete and steel.

Perfumed, peppery and spicy on the nose with ripe red fruit. The palate is supple and smooth, the Cabernet adding grip, before a dry, refreshing finish.
