Cave de Turckheim Reserve Pinot Gris

Cave de Turckheim is widely regarded as one of the finest cooperatives in Alsace, situated at the mouth of the Munster Valley where the Vosges mountains give way to the Rhine plain. The Réserve range represents a step up in character and typicity from the cooperative's entry-level wines, with winemaker Daniel Gerold applying a traditional approach throughout: pneumatic pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation, no finings and only light filtration before bottling, all in the interest of preserving fruit and aromatic intensity.

The result is a Pinot Gris with a lovely flush of colour and real presence on the palate - rich, full and perfumed, with a long, slightly smoky finish that is characteristic of the variety at its best in Alsace. It pairs particularly well with dishes that have some aromatic complexity: Thai or Asian spicing, ginger, chilli, or anything with a little heat cuts through the wine's richness beautifully.
