Beyond the town of Franschhoek, on the very edge of the south-eastern corner of the Cape’s Coastal Region, a farm named Wildeberg traverses a wild slice of untamed mountain. It’s here that a happy band of idealists craned their necks up at this hillside and decided to plant vines. People thought they were mad, but they’ve gone on to produce some of the most exciting wines in South Africa.

This award-winning wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Malbec, both fermented whole bunch using wild yeasts naturally occurring in the winery, and aged for 20 months in French and Austrian oak before blending and bottling.

Deceptively serious, this blend shows both depth and substance and a wine that delvers more than you bargained for in the bottle!

Taste guide: cherry and plum on the nose gives way to blackberry, damson and star anise with a lick of spicy oak.
