Nonino Grappa Riserva AnticaCuvée® Aged 5 Years 70cl
A blend of grappas chosen by the Nonino family and aged for 5 to 20 years in oak barriques and small ex-sherry casks. AnticaCuvée is grappa at its most generous: warm, velvety and long.
The Noninos have been distilling in Friuli since 1897, and this Riserva shows that experience. Fresh pomace is fermented at a controlled temperature and batch distilled in copper steam stills. The spirit then ages under customs seal in Limousin, Nevers and Grésigne oak and small ex-sherry casks. In the glass it is a deep amber, with sherried raisins, brioche, orange zest and candied fruit on the nose. The palate is drier, with honey, apricot, vanilla, toasted almonds and baking spice over fine oak.
Difford's Guide likens it to a good sherry-aged single malt. Nonino also suggests a spoonful over ice cream.
Each bottle comes with a grappa glass, while stocks last. Glasses are in limited supply, so once they're gone, they're gone.
