Calle 23 Añejo Tequila is a 100% agave tequila aged for a minimum of sixteen months in 200-litre casks that were previously used to age whiskey in Kentucky.
Calle 23 is a premium tequila brand founded by Sophie Decobecq, a French microbiologist who honed her skills distilling agave spirits in South Africa before relocating to Mexico. The brand’s name was inspired by a memorable evening of celebration with her team, after they had successfully perfected their fermentation and distillation processes. While they had the product, they were still searching for the right name. At that moment, Sophie noticed a street sign reading "CALLE 23" (Spanish for “Street 23” and pronounced ‘Kai-Yay’), and it struck her as the perfect fit.
