From Ca' di Alte, the label the Piedmontese winemaker Alberto Marchisio founded when he took charge at Cantina Colli Vicentini in 2012. The fruit grows on north-facing hillsides in the Colli Berici, south of Vicenza, on calcareous soils of volcanic origin, where cool nights hold the aromatics together. The Palladian window on the label nods to Andrea Palladio, who built his masterpieces nearby.
Unoaked, bright and light-bodied, showing red cherry and raspberry leaf with a savoury edge and tangy, grapefruity acidity.
Good lightly chilled, with charcuterie, a Margherita pizza or mushroom linguine.
