Created in 1868 for Salvatore Averna by the herbalist monks of San Spirito Abbey in Caltanissetta, Averna Amaro is a carefully blended bitter amaro liqueur made from an infusion of aromatic herbs, dried flowers, spices and liquorice. A Sicilian specialty, Averna was the first licensed spirit in the region and has become the top-selling amaro in Italy.
