John Duval, `Plexus` Barossa
John Duval “Plexus” Barossa is a classic Barossa Valley red blend that combines three Rhône-inspired varieties. Shiraz provides depth and dark fruit character, Grenache contributes aromatics and red fruit, while old-vine Mourvèdre adds savoury spice and structure.
The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards across the Barossa Valley. Each parcel is fermented separately in small open stainless-steel fermenters, with a portion of the Grenache including whole bunches to enhance savoury complexity. The wines are then matured in French oak hogsheads.
The wine has vibrant aromas of black fruit with notes of cinnamon, vanilla and smoke. On the palate it is velvety with layers of red and black fruits, savoury spice and fine tannins, balanced by bright acidity that carries the wine to a long finish.
