Crozes Hermitage La Certitude Domaine Francois Villard

From François Villard, one of the northern Rhône's most respected growers, a former chef who turned to wine in the late 1980s. La Certitude draws on parcels around Chanos-Curson, Beaumont-Monteux and Mercurol, on clay, sand and Rhône river stones, then around a year in oak.

Smooth and generous, showing blackberry, black cherry and violet over cracked pepper, liquorice and gentle spice, with supple tannins and a savoury northern-Rhône edge.

Stands up to roast lamb, game or hearty seasonal dishes.
