A Rhône red from Alexandre Favier of Domaine Chante Cigale, one of the new-wave names in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, from family land west of Gigondas now converting to organic. A blend of 80% Grenache Noir and 20% Carignan, with the Carignan briefly aged in old Burgundy barrels. The name nods to the singing cicadas of the Rhône valley.
Juicy and fresh with soft tannins and a lift of acidity, showing raspberry, strawberry, black cherry and stewed plum alongside subtle herbal and spice notes.
One for the table with roast chicken, charcuterie or a mushroom risotto.
