The Bitter Truth Pimento Dram liqueur

Pimento Dram, also known as allspice liqueur,  has been made in Jamaica for generations, and is one of the essential ingredients in Tiki cocktails and classic Caribbean drinks. The name allspice comes from English explorers who noticed that the dried, unripened berry of the Pimenta dioica tree seemed to combine the flavours of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and pepper all at once. The Bitter Truth, founded in Germany by bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck, set out to make a definitive version: built on fine Jamaican rum and sugarcane, with selected pimento berries and no artificial colouring.

Chocolate brown in colour, it opens with pronounced clove before cinnamon, nutmeg and pepper take over, with a long, intense and warming finish. Use it wherever allspice is called for: it appears in countless Tiki recipes, and adds a quiet spiced depth to rum drinks of almost any style.
