Domaine Joël Delaunay, Touraine Sauvignon Blanc
Domaine Joël Delaunay, Touraine Sauvignon Blanc is a Loire Valley white made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grown in the Touraine appellation near the Cher River, east of Tours. The family-run estate, now managed by fifth-generation winemaker Thierry Delaunay, focuses primarily on white wines, with Sauvignon Blanc as the dominant variety.
The vineyards lie on clay and silex (flint and sand) soils, which help give the wine its characteristic minerality. Around 30% of the grapes undergo a short skin maceration before pressing, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then aged on fine lees with bâtonnage for several months, adding texture and complexity while preserving the freshness of the fruit.
Pale lemon in colour, the wine has aromas of tropical fruit, grapefruit and blackcurrant leaf. The palate is bright and well balanced with lively acidity, fresh citrus and stone-fruit notes, finishing clean and mineral-driven in classic Touraine style.
