Le Petit de Petit-Village 2021 vintage is 100% Merlot. It comes from 36-year-old vines on the Plateau de Catusseau in Pomerol, where deep clay-gravel soils help the vines retain balance and ripen well.
The grapes were hand-harvested, destemmed and sorted berry by berry, then given a cool pre-fermentation maceration before fermenting in stainless steel. The wine was aged for 16 months, split between 50% new French oak barrels and 50% clay amphorae.
Deep ruby in colour, it is ripe plum and black cherry on the nose with a subtle touch of spice. On the palate, plush Pomerol tannins are balanced by bright acidity, giving the wine a juicy, elegant finish and an approachable style suited to roast meats and richer dishes.
