Château Durfort-Vivens Le Plateau de Durfort-Vivens Margaux
Château Durfort-Vivens “Le Plateau de Durfort-Vivens” Margaux is a Bordeaux red from the Margaux appellation, produced by the historic Château Durfort-Vivens estate, a Deuxième Cru Classé in the 1855 classification. The wine forms part of the estate’s parcel-selection range, designed to highlight the character of individual vineyard sites within the Margaux terroir.
The blend is typically 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, sourced from vines around 25 years old growing on deep sandy gravel soils in the commune of Soussans. The wine is matured for around 16 months in a combination of clay amphorae and French oak barrels (about 10% new), a method that preserves fruit purity while adding structure and complexity.
Structured and powerful in style, it has aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry and plum with hints of tobacco, cedar and spice. The palate is rich and balanced, with firm but ripe tannins and fresh acidity supporting the layered dark-fruit character and leading to a long, gripping finish
