Byrrh Grand Quinquina is a historic French aromatised wine aperitif, created in Roussillon in the late 19th century. It is made from a base of red wine and mistelle, flavoured with quinine (cinchona bark) and a blend of botanicals, placing it in the classic quinquina style alongside the likes of Dubonnet.

The style sits between vermouth and bitter aperitif, combining wine richness with gentle herbal bitterness. It is light-bodied yet rich, with layers of red wine fruit alongside spicy, rooty, earthy bitterness and notes of liquorice, coffee and bitter chocolate.

Traditionally served over ice with a slice of lemon or orange, it also works well as a long drink with soda and in cocktails. You can find a selection of cocktails with Byrrh on Difford's Guide
